Vision Entrepreneuriale-Quantino

Vision entrepreneuriale de la Ville de Québec | Annonce à Quantino

January 15, 2026

Québec City, January 15, 2026 – After only five years of operation and facilities that had reached full capacity, Quantino, the incubator powered by INO, is inaugurating its new premises today, increasing its capacity from 48 to 84 workstations for incubated technology startups.

Launched in 2020 by INO, Quantino has already welcomed 39 young technology companies into a customized incubation pathway with a typical duration of three years. Incubated companies benefit from access to state-of-the-art infrastructure, cutting-edge technological equipment, and expert support for the development of high-technology products and business growth. With the recently completed expansion work, new laboratories have also been added to the offering, including medical-grade clean rooms and a photonic chip testing station.

“This expansion demonstrates the importance of supporting young technology companies at the right time in order to continue developing a true hub in Québec City for photonics, quantum, medical, and artificial intelligence technologies. The activities carried out by Quantino and the companies it incubates are generating significant results and are already producing tangible economic benefits and job creation,” stated Mr. Alain Chandonnet, President and CEO at INO.

“Our government is committed to building a strong economy, focused resolutely on innovation. That is why I am delighted with CED’s investment in the Quantino project, the National Optical Institute’s incubator. Thanks to its new facilities, Quantino will help stimulate growth and creativity among homegrown businesses, while also generating wealth across Quebec and Canada. Congratulations to the entire team at INO on completing this strategic project that holds such promise for our economy,” highlighted the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions..

The Jacques-Topping Atrium: a tribute to a great builder of the technology sector

INO took advantage of the inauguration of Quantino’s new facilities to recognize the lasting impact of Mr. Jacques Topping on the entire technology entrepreneurship ecosystem. Co-founder of the Groupe Informission—later known as Nurun—and a board member de INO for 28 years, including seven years as Chair, he also distinguished himself through his unwavering support for the next generation of technology entrepreneurs, whether as a mentor, philanthropist, or investor.

“He believed in ideas before they became companies, and in entrepreneurs before they became leaders. His legacy is reflected as much in his remarkable career as in his commitment to innovation ecosystem organizations and in the entrepreneurial journeys of those he inspired,” said Me Sébastien Proulx, Chair of the Board at INO.
